Nice

Nice is the capital city of the Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur region of France and is also home to the regions airport giving visitors easy access throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia. Until 1860 the city was part of Italy and the Italian influences can still be seen in the architecture and the names of places to be found here. Today the city is a veritable mix of the old and new with buildings dating back hundreds of years and the state of the art tram system passing through the centre of Nice. The city welcomes 1000’s of international tourists each year and has an exciting programme of events throughout the year, including Nice Carnival which is held in February each year.

Promenade des Anglais is the sweep of coastal path and road running the length of the beaches and coast of the city. Built originally for those wishing to stroll alongside the coast and enjoy the famous azur waters of the Mediterranean.

 
Place Massena with it's new tram routes and the pedestrian zone is the place to shop and eat in Nice. From here you can easily connect with the old town and the Cours Salaya with it's daily Provencal market.
 
For those seeking more cultural activities then the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Place Rossetti and the Opera House should definitely feature on the list of places to visit
