The last day of summer?

Can it really be the last day of summer? Impromptu lunch at our favourite beach restaurant on this warm beautiful day of 24 degrees with clear blue skies and a shimmering sea. The off-shore swimming/diving platforms are being towed away for winter storage but some swimmers delight in the warm smooth water and several sunbathers take advantage of the lovely temperature and low breeze.

There are many footprints in the sand but most are from the birds! (more…)

Summer fireworks

If you were here on the 14th July, you would be hard put to avoid the fireworks celebrations that mark France’s Bastille Day. In each community, the fireworks are often followed by dancing with neighbours of all ages into the early hours of the morning.

In Cannes this year, the 14th July was the first of six evenings of the “Festival d’Art Pyrotechnique” – a competition between different nations – this year Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Portugal, Canada and Russia. (more…)
